12 @ NOW is a 12-voice select vocal chamber ensemble committed to performing acappella music from the Medieval and Renaissance eras and from the middle 20th Century to the present.
Under the direction of Professor Martin Chambers, 12 @ NOW will provide singers an exciting opportunity to advance their sight-reading skills, their understanding of style from two of the richest choral epochs in western music history, their ability to read contemporary scores and their interactive ensemble performing skills culminating in professional quality performances for University, regional, national and international audiences.
Membership is by audition only. The audition will consist of hearing the voice within its usable range, listening for clarity, and intonation. A short sight-reading exercise will be required. All students, whether music majors or majors from other disciplines are encouraged to apply. Students must commit to participate for two academic semesters and perform at the scheduled concerts.
Ultimately, 3 sopranos, 3 mezzo-sopranos/altos, 3 tenors and 3 baritones/basses will be accepted.
